Production Engineering Manager

Job Introduction

The Production Engineering Manager will be responsible for identifying and implementing improvements to the site facility, test & manufacturing production process, including cost-out, safety and quality initiatives. 

They will drive the implementation of continuous improvements and lean culture across the business unit, by delivering individual improvement initiatives and mentoring and coaching other employees using lean tools and techniques.

The role will also focus on driving the operational first-time test yield.  This may require sub-assembly testing, hands-on operational support, standardisation of Test SOP, and the development and implementation of test operator trainings.

Role Responsibility

  • Manage the test, production engineer and maintenance teams
  • Tactical Facility, test & manufacturing production support
  • Assist in manufacturing and production quality investigation
  • Drive NCR process and the implementation of improvements
  • Monitoring of the production flow and identifying productivity initiatives
  • Time and motion studies and implement identified improvements
  • Implement productivity improvement initiatives
  • In conjunction with the production and operations team, identify and implement production optimisation solutions
  • Develop and maintain SOP to ensure its accuracy and effectiveness  
  • Identify and remove non-value-added processes
  • Design and implement visual manufacturing and production aides
  • Design of jigs, fixtures, etc.
  • Drive the implementation of continuous improvements and lean culture across the business unit
  • Support KPI tracking and management
  • Support operational business and reporting activities
  • Participate capacity simulation processes to run sensitivity analysis for growth
  • Actively engage with the operational planning processes
  • Define and implement operational processes, tools and policies enhancements  
  • Drive / support strategic cross-function initiatives
  • Support key financial and business analysis activities

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience in production, manufacturing and test roles  
  • People leadership, including managing teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of the energy management landscape
  • Strong influencing and collaboration skills
  • Able to translate business strategies into commercial actions
  • Good understanding and ability to apply lean principles
  • Experience of site/facilities management
  • Hands-on experience in project planning
  • Product knowledge/experience of switchgear, transformer and associated equipment
  • Knowledge of DNO / IDNO recommendations rules & regulations
  • Customer focused
  • Self-sufficient, resourceful and a problem solver.
  • Strength of character and high levels of energy.
