Mechanical Contracts Design

Job Introduction

Working within the Engineering Department the role of Mechanical Contracts Designer is to produce the Mechanical Contract designs for the application of BRUSH Switchgears products. This would include General Arrangement Drawings and Bill of Materials, varying in degrees of complexity.

Role Responsibility

  • Working to instruction and/or specifications produced by the Applications Engineers
  • Produce, design and/or modify drawings
  • Create detailed General Arrangement drawings based on the customer requirements additionally construct Bills of Materials for each project.
  • Create project specific Mechanical Designs & Label Schedules.
  • Liaise directly with Manufacturing and Quality team members on issues relating to drawings.
  • Assist in the production of contract job packs and other Manufacturing and Quality deliverables as required to meet on time delivery schedules.
  • Assist engineers with initial design requirements and conceptualise plans and details to accurately convey manufacturing requirements.
  • Provide engineering support and assistance to customers and internal departments

Qualifications

  • Qualified to HNC level in a Mechanical Engineering Discipline
  • BTEC in Engineering

  • A comprehensive understanding of electrical health and safety regulations Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with team members in other departments

Knowledge

  • Good IT skills in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/SolidWorks systems
  • Knowledge of electrical protection systems would be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of relevant industry switchgear standards

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of working withing the switchgear industry would an advantage.
  • BRUSH Switchgear product knowledge considered.
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
