Electrical Contracts Designer

Job Introduction

Working within the Engineering Department the role of Electrical Contracts Designer is to produce the electrical designs for the application of BRUSH Switchgears products. This would include Schematic/Wiring Diagrams, varying in degrees of complexity.

Role Responsibility

  • Working to instruction and/or specifications produced by the Applications Engineers
  • Produce, design and/or modify drawings
  • Create detailed schematic designs based on the customer requirements – designs to include CT/VT design, Electrical Interlocking Designs, Auto changeover Designs, control (Trip/Close) designs.
  • Liaise directly with Manufacturing and Quality team members on issues relating to drawings.
  • Assist in the production of contract job packs and other Manufacturing and Quality deliverables as required to meet on time delivery schedules.
  • Assist engineers with initial design requirements and conceptualise plans and details to accurately convey manufacturing requirements.
  • Provide engineering support and assistance to customers and internal departments

Qualifications

  • Qualified to HNC level in an Electrical Engineering Discipline

Skills

  • Eye for detail and able to work at high degree of accuracy

  • The ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories
  • The ability to work by yourself or as a part of a team
  • The ability to prioritise and plan effectively

Knowledge

  • Good IT skills in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Proficient in AutoCAD systems, preferably AutoCAD Electrical
  • Knowledge of electrical protection systems would be an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of relevant industry switchgear standards

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of working withing the switchgear industry
  • Commercial experience and/or BRUSH Switchgear product knowledge considered.
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of dealing with customers and suppliers
