Transformer Controls Engineer

Job Introduction

We have a great opportunity for a Transformer Controls Engineer to join our Engineering team based in Loughborough, Leicestershire. The successful candidate will deliver expert technical knowledge to BRUSH Transformers relating to the Controls and Tap Changer designs, ensuring that the capability and function of the transformer product exceeds customer requirements.

Role Responsibility

  • Design of controls and protection for transformers and reactors.
  • Responsible for producing schematic control drawings for transformer control cubicles remote-control panels and tap changers.
  • Communicate and interact with internal supply chain management and electronics manufacturers regarding component related questions and enquiries.
  • Produce manufacturing instructions for production.
  • Support service and aftermarket teams on tap changer replacements, retrofits and refurbishments.
  • Identification of spare parts in response to customer requirements.
  • Perform tendering activities by interpreting the customer’s specification and offering the most cost effective controls solutions.
  • Responsible for issuing contract information to allow the procurement of out-sourced components for Control Cubicles, RCP and Tap Changers.
  • Ensure that all designs and applied technology are compliant with the relevant technical, safety and environmental standards, codes of practice.
  • Undertake analysis of test results and feedback into the database for future use and reference.
  • Liaise with the customers to achieve the required specifications.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

  • Minimum HNC in Electrical /Electronic Engineering or equivalent, Engineering degree preferrable.
  • Minimum of 5 Years’ experience in similar role at a Transformer Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematic drawing.

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and Power point.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • This role would involve meeting and dealing directly with customers to discuss Transformers and its associated components requirements.
  • Strong problem solving skills with a methodical approach and an eye for detail.
