Sheet Metal Supervisor

Job Introduction

The Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the sheet metal production operations. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of operators in the daily production of sheet metal parts using laser cutting, punching, and press brake equipment. You will ensure efficient operations, maintain high-quality standards, and meet production deadlines.

Role Responsibility

  • Oversee the daily operations of the sheet metal production department, including laser cutting, punching, and press brake activities.
  • Schedule and assign work tasks to ensure efficient workflow and meet production deadlines.
  • Train and develop team members on proper operation of equipment, safety procedures, and quality control standards.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to team members.
  • Monitor production processes to identify and address any potential quality issues.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all parts meet customer specifications.
  • Maintain accurate production records and reports.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by enforcing all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Address any production issues or equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments, such as engineering and planning, to ensure smooth production flow.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications or Functional Experience

  • Educated to HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong sheet metal fabrication background.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of laser cutting, punching, and press brake operations.
  • Excellent knowledge of sheet metal properties and fabrication techniques.
  • Experience with quality control principles and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong commitment to safety and a proven ability to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Sage X3 MRP systems an advantage.
