Quality Engineer

Job Introduction

The Quality Engineer supports the Quality Manager to ensure that all production processes, materials, and finished products meet stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing quality systems, resolving quality-related issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Engineer collaborates with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to deliver reliable, compliant, and high-performance products to customers.

Role Responsibility

  • Support the Quality Manager with all aspects of their role.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures for transformer production.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and testing of raw materials, in-process assemblies, and finished products.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Support the Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) process through the investigation of all internal and external NCR’s, tracking their timely containment and close out, ensuring diligent investigations have been conducted to identify the root cause and ensuring all Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA) have been completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all CAPA’s identified from internal and external audits are completed in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with design, production, and supply chain teams to address and resolve quality concerns.
  • Maintain and improve ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 quality management systems.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing methodologies to enhance process efficiency and product reliability.
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment used in transformer quality management.
  • Train production staff on quality standards, inspection techniques, and defect identification.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure compliance with quality specifications for transformer components.
  • Collate all Manufacturing Records and ensure they are complete and stored correctly at the close out of every project.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications

  • ONC/HNC in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 2+ years of experience years of experience in transformer manufacturing, testing, or quality assurance.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) – Desirable 
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor – Desirable 

Skills 

  • Have a disciplined and enthusiastic approach, which captures the commitment of others.
  • Understanding and application of lean Six Sigma tools, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve & Control) principles and applications. 
  • Ability to work under own initiative creating project plans, milestones and deliver on time in full. 
  • Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment. 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Influencing and negotiating skills
  • Detail oriented with the skill set to resolve problems.
  • Ability to present data effectively. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of cost and financial impacts

Experience

  • Strong knowledge of transformer design, insulation systems, and failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IEC 60076, IEEE C57, and ISO 9001.
  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) and high-voltage testing is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) 
  • Strong understanding of root cause analysis, FMEA, SPC, and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles.
