Project Manager
Job Introduction
The High Voltage (HV) Electrical Project Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing high-voltage electrical projects from inception to completion. This includes planning, coordination, and execution of electrical installations, maintenance, and upgrades for transmission and distribution systems. The individual will work closely with internal teams, contractors, and clients to ensure the successful delivery of projects, ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance at all stages.
Role Responsibility
- Project Planning & Coordination:
- Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedules, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Oversee the execution of HV electrical installation, testing, and commissioning processes, ensuring timelines and budget constraints are adhered to.
- Liaise with engineers, contractors, vendors, and clients to ensure project objectives are met.
- Team Management:
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and subcontractors.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination among team members, contractors, and clients.
- Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and high standards of work.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout the project's lifecycle.
- Perform regular site visits to monitor progress, identify potential issues, and enforce safe working practices.
- Ensure all work is in line with local and international regulations and standards for HV electrical systems.
- Budget & Financial Oversight:
- Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and financial targets are met.
- Monitor financial performance of projects, including forecasting and cost reporting.
- Review and approve procurement of materials, equipment, and services within project budgets.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks (technical, financial, and operational) early in the project and take proactive measures to mitigate them.
- Manage issues that arise, providing solutions and adjustments to ensure project success.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Provide regular progress updates, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring ongoing business development.
- Quality Assurance:
- Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure all work meets industry standards.
- Review testing, commissioning, and inspection procedures to verify the electrical systems meet specifications.
- Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare project reports, progress updates, and final project documentation for clients and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, including design changes, approvals, and certifications.
The Ideal Candidate
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree or specialized qualifications in HV systems preferred).
- Experience:
- At least 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering or project management, specifically in high voltage electrical systems.
- Experience managing HV projects, including substation installations, power generation, and distribution networks.
- Certifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent project management certification is a plus.
- Electrical Engineering certifications specific to high-voltage systems or utilities is advantageous.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of HV electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, cables, and protection systems.
- Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, IEC etc.), and quality assurance processes.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g. Microsoft, MS Project, Primavera).

- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Work Environment:
- This role may require frequent site visits, including to remote or industrial locations.
- Some travel may be required based on the project locations.
- PPE and safety protocols must be strictly adhered to while on-site.
