Infrastructure Engineer

Job Introduction

The purpose of this role is to provide hands on support to accelerate our Infrastructure road map.

To be responsible for implementing, maintaining and monitoring the IT Infrastructure using modern technology and ensuring that systems function seamlessly.

To be responsible for system administration of IT Infrastructure.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract 

Role Responsibility

  • Implement, monitor and maintain our infrastructure technologies and solutions for example: servers, storage, networking, software, virtual and cloud computing.
  • Maintain the security, confidentiality, and integrity of information systems through compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Maintain the existing environment always with a view of how to improve the estate.
  • Create and implement project plans in line with road map deliverables, clearly identifying project activities, dependencies and risks.
  • Troubleshoot and identify problems across different technology stacks ensuring accountability by taking ownership through to resolution/RCA.
  • Identify potential weaknesses and risks within the environment and evaluate how to resolve.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualification

  • Degree of equivalent experience
  • Project management (Lean Sigma/Prince 2) or equivalent experience (desirable)

Experience & Knowledge

  • 3+ years experience in an infrastructure position :
    • Windows server
    • VMWare
    • Networking concepts & configuration
    • AD
    • Azure
    • Solution design and implementation
  • Experience assessing and articulating risks within a project management framework
  • Experience identifying gaps and areas that require improvements
  • Experience with hybrid environments including on-premises and cloud services
  • Experience of documenting processes, standard operating procedures & work instructions
  • Knowledge and understanding of IT Strategy and infrastructure, Information Management and Governance and IT Security

  • Ability to multi-task / prioritise in an ambiguous work environment
