HSE Manager
Job Introduction
We are recruiting for a HSE Manager to join our BRUSH Switchgear site based in South Wales, Blackwood. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining Health, Safety & Environment standards in accordance with current legislation whilst ensuring managers and employees comply with all HSE legislation and that HSE policies and practices are adhered to.
Role Responsibility
- To provide specialist advice for all matters relating to the statutory requirements concerning health safety factors to managers, employees and safety representatives.
- Supporting the compliance manager with the Implementation and maintenance of procedures to meet the requirements of ISO14001 and ISO45001.
- Providing the company with statistics and reports in relation to HSE.
- Compliance with the quality system, including issuing and tracking corrective action requests following internal and external audits.
- Co-ordination with HSE Legal Advisor in relation to work related claims.
- Promoting positive HSE culture and continuous improvement within the Company and developing HSE policies and procedures.
- Supporting HR to ensure the company compliance to the legal health surveillance requirements, working with Occupational Health provider to ensure timely completion of medicals.
- Ensure regulatory requirements such as COSHH, RIDDOR and fire plans are met.
- Assist Managers and Supervisors in the maintenance and develop of risk assessments to ensure they are relevant and up-to-date, eliminating & reducing risk where possible. Completion of Risk Assessments.
- Assessment of training requirements and provision of training to site employees regarding Health Safety including toolbox talks.
- Carry out accident and incident investigations, providing reports and identifying route causes and implementing action plans to prevent re-occurrence.
- Advising on a range of specialist areas, including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
- Monitor and control that PPE issued is compliant.
- Ensure regulatory requirements such as COSHH, RIDDOR and fire plans are met.
- Responsible for working towards set key performance indicators and ensuring targets are met.
- Collection of weekly and monthly KPI information.
- Empowerment to intervene with any non-compliance.
- Leading site health and safety initiatives, including chairing meetings.
- Ensure all data protection activities of personal and special category data; pertaining to current employees, customers and all other external stakeholders, are done so in line with the company’s data protection (GDPR) Policy.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of current health, safety and environmental laws and legislation. You will also be qualified in formal training including, NEBOSH/IOSH/IEMA or CIEH and have exposure of BS EN ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001. To succeed in this role, you will have previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment, project management skills, and excellent interpersonal skills.
