Field Service Mechanical Engineer

Job Introduction

Brush Americas is looking for an experienced Field Service Mechanical Engineer to be an essential part of our Field Service team.  

This is a customer-facing role which requires a high degree of technical competence with a corresponding level of self-sufficiency, resourcefulness, and the ability to execute all responsibilities in a professional manner and with a customer service oriented attitude.

Role Responsibility

Are you experienced in working with the following:  BRUSH BDAX 6, BDAX 7, BDAX 8, BDAX 9, GE LM6000, 7FH2, 6A2, 6A3, 6A6, 6FA, 7A3, 7A6, 9A3, 9A5, 324, in addition to various Westinghouse, Siemens, ALSTOM, and other OEM generator frames/models?

Do you have experience with brushless and static excitation service experience as well as air, hydrogen, and liquid cooled generators in 2 and 4 pole configuration?

Are you experienced with generator, rotor, and stator robotic test equipment such as RoGIS, MAGIC, and MAGIC Jr., as well as experience with high voltage generator maintenance and repair experience (15kV to 24kV; 3 MVA to 1,100 MVA output), performing electrical testing such as determining Polarization Index (PI) and Insulation Resistance (IR)?

Have you interpreted specifications and technical requirements, prepared method statements,risk assessments, and reviewed, interpreted and reported machine performance data, instrument readings, and test values?

Can you conduct core maintenance activities such as disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, evaluating, troubleshooting and reassembling heavy-duty industrial generators? Have you performed these functions on equipment such as rotor couplings, frame components, shaft-driven oil pumps, bearings, seals, hydrogen seal assemblies, and rotor removals?

Do you have the ability and willingness to be prepared and available to travel when called upon and on short notice on a regular basis both domestically and internationally 75% - 80% of the time or as business needs dictate?

Do you want to make a contribution to the continuous improvement of processes and where your experience and qualifications could be successfully utilized?

You will need to be someone who is focused and results driven with an ability to work under pressure and to meet critical deadlines.

We are looking for someone with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and three to five years of applicable field experience, or completion of an accredited industry training program with a concentration in windings and high voltage components, plus three to five years of applicable field experience, or equivalent combination of education and field experience.
