Job Introduction

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for the position of Electrical Design Engineer for BRUSH Transformers based in Loughborough, Leicestershire. The successful candidate will deliver expert technical knowledge to the BRUSH Transformers Value Stream on electrical designs, ensuring that the capability and function of the transformer product exceeds customer requirements. You will be part of a team of engineers to improve the electrical design for power transformers by applying leading edge engineering methods and solutions both internally and externally.

Role Responsibility

• Produce Electrical Design of Transformer and Reactor for up to 132kV Transformers as per Scope of Work.
• Produce Bills of material and upload onto PDM system
• Check and approve supplier offers and drawings.
• Ensure that all designs and applied technology are compliant with the relevant technical, safety and environmental standards, codes of practice etc.
• Analysis of test results and feedback into database for future use and reference.
• Working with the customer to achieve the required specifications
• Develop best practice for Transformers designs and processes within the organisation
• Actively work on continuous improvement of Transformer design and optimisation
• The requirement to work cross functionally to develop best practice for Transformers designs
• Understanding of engineering processes, quality systems and awareness of HSE best practice & compliance
• Produce technical details for Electrical design for preparation of related manuals
• Support the Tendering activity.
• Produce Technical Datasheet, Compliance documents for Tendering teams.
• Produce required technical document to support sales teams.
• Check and review scopes of work are technically correct before being released and uploaded.
• Support Quality teams on supplier development and inspections.
• Support the Purchasing department and assign Planner codes to parts and create list of parts to assist procurement based on material type, with a controlled document. 

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering

Skills & Experience: 

• Ability to perform manual calculations and use design software to produce the necessary transformer designs.
• FEMM, ANSYS Electro magnetics
• Electrical Design of Power Transformers and Reactors for 132kV and 150MVA
• Must have relevant Transformer Electrical design experience in original equipment manufacturing environment.
