Data Analyst

Job Introduction

The Commercial Analyst role will provide analysis and insight into the sales and margin performance of the Power Distribution business. The analysis will provide meaningful strategic information to the Finance & Commercial Directors, enabling them to make decisions that impact the future strategy of the business. The Analyst will support both manufacturing Finance Controllers in providing Gross Margin analysis and be pivotal in process improvement activity.

The role will report into the Commercial Business Partner, and therefore allows an opportunity to be involved in a broad variety of activity across both Finance & Commercial/Sales functions, in both BRUSH Transformers & Switchgear. Please note that this position is based in Loughborough and involves travel to Blackwood Wales.  

Role Responsibility

Gross Margin

  • Work with Financial Controllers to provide Gross Margin Analysis for both manufacturing divisions (Transformers & Switchgear)
  • Improve and streamline current processes
  • Complete deep dive investigations into the costing process
  • Focus on integrity of data

Orderbook

  • Be the primary Finance support for the CRM system implementation
  • Convert sales information into meaningful orderbook data for group submission
  • Provide orderbook analysis, order intake analysis and drive a systems approach within the Commercial/Sales team

 Research & Development

  • Provide finance input into business cases for new products

Market Analysis

  • Complete market analysis data work as requested by Finance Director
  • Create and maintain databases of market information

Process Improvement

  • Work alongside the Finance and commercial functions to help develop better systems

Adhoc Reporting

  • Complete adhoc reporting /  data work as requested by Finance Director

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications

  • CIMA, ACA, or ACCA qualified (or newly qualified, 2+ years PQE)

Skills

  • Financial Modelling
  • Manufacturing / Factory and Project Accounting experience
  • Budget/Forecasting in a Factory/Project costing environment
  • Revenue Recognition knowledge
  • Systems improvement/implementation
  • Delivering of Process Improvements
  • The ability to build strong commercial relationships at all levels
  • Very high level of commercial awareness
  • Analytical

Knowledge

  • Advanced Excel 
  • Data manipulation

Experience

  • 2 years post qualification
  • Manufacturing/Heavy Engineering experience desirable
  • Financial Modelling
