Apprentice/Machinist ($1,500 Sign-On Bonus)
Job Introduction

Role Responsibility
Summary: Entry level Technicians and Machinist operate industrial production-related equipment, work with manufacturing related tools, and perform work processes related to a wide variety of manufacturing settings. Apprentice training will include learning to wind, test, assemble and disassemble rotors, exciters and stators, set up, operate, monitor, and control equipment. Machinist will learn to make parts by using drawings and machinery.
An Apprenticeship Agreement outlining the program expectations is required to be entered into with Brush. The program includes a required number of hours over an 18-month period which includes actual on the job training hours worked and class room instructions.
Work Process: In order to obtain well-rounded training and thereby qualify as a skilled worker, the Apprentice shall obtain experience and training in the following areas and shall demonstrate competency, as specified further in the Work Process Schedule. This instruction and experience shall include the following operations.
Skills Needed:
- Follow OSHA industrial safety standards and procedures around electricity, machines, and equipment processes.
- Works according to production schedules to meet job specifications.
- Monitor and adjust equipment during operations as needed.
- Assemble and disassemble equipment and components accurately and safely.
- Performs quality checks, verifies quality of work following quality work instructions.
- Demonstrate awareness of defects and causes of rework.
- Document all quality tests and understand implications and consequences of documentation.
- Follow company specific quality guidelines and adhere to customer specific quality requirements.
- Interpret technical information by using blueprints, formulas and process control sheets efficiently.
- Reference project plans and documents by completing an apprenticeship Job Book or checklist of competency completion.
Skills Learned on the Job:
- Proper use of mechanical tools, gauges, and testing equipment by measuring and visually inspecting materials, products or parts, and finished goods accurately in accordance with job specifications.
- Apply math to measuring and inspection of work.
- Demonstrate knowledge of routine equipment maintenance by inspection of equipment and maintain machine components following manufacturer specifications.
- Demonstrate continuous improvement.
- Properly set-up production equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of inventory and material processes.
- Overtime is a requirement as-needed which may include, weekdays, weekends or holidays.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED, Technical school a plus.
