Staff Accountant

Role Responsibility

Brush Americas is looking for a Staff Accountant whose main job functions would be  Accounts Payable and Payroll Specialist. We are looking for someone that is able to handle the coordination of the preparation, processing and maintenance of payrolls and accounts payable; responsible for applying departmental procedures and practices to accounts and record keeping, payroll related tasks to ensure the accuracy and completeness of vouchers, invoices, and checks submitted for payment; requires an understanding of monthly closing activities, including general ledger entries, reconciling sub-ledgers and cash accounts, and reviewing general ledger in preparation for financial statement reporting. 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Payroll:

Prepares payroll utilizing the designated payroll processing system.

Input all additions, deletions, changes or deductions to the bi-weekly payroll.

Maintains an accurate record of all employees’ paid time off.

Answers questions from staff regarding payroll information.

Prepares and maintains filing of payroll related documents.

Compile and prepare payroll data such as 401K, health benefits, direct deposits, and garnishments. 

Maintain a commitment to confidentiality.

Interpret company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.

Review payroll to ensure accuracy.

Other duties may be assigned, as needed.

Accounts Payables:

Reviews invoices before payment to assure appropriate department head approval, coding and supporting documentation is provided.

Entry of all new vendors into Solomon accounting system from approved vendor set-up forms.

Entry of all invoices into Solomon accounting system.

Maintain and file all accounts payable files.

Reviews invoices and other financial documents according to prescribed procedures and policies in order to verify the accuracy and completeness of information recorded on them.

Checks the accuracy of computations.

Staff Accountant:

Participate in the monthly closing activities of the company including general ledger entries, reconciling sub-ledgers and cash accounts, and reviewing the general ledger in preparation for financial statement reporting. 

Manage vendor payments via credit card.

Participate in special projects, as assigned. 

Miscellaneous:

Backup for phone coverage and monitoring of entry into main office space.

Backup for creation of Purchase Orders.

You will need to be someone who is focused and results driven with an ability to work under pressure and to meet critical deadlines.

We are looking for someone with an Associates Degree in Accounting or one to two years of experience in related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. We are seeking someone who is able to analyze issues and generate solutions to resolve problems, increase productivity, and works efficiently, with a methodical approach and an eye for detail.
